Halloween Carnival Frequently Asked Questions
For those of you that are new to Miramar Ranch, below you will find a list of Frequently Asked Questions regarding our annual Halloween Carnival. If you are not new to our school, thank you for your continued support of our biggest fundraiser and we look forward to working together again on this fun community tradition.
What: Miramar Ranch Halloween Carnival
When: Saturday, October 22nd from 11am to 4pm
(Haunted Trail only on Friday, October 21st from 5:30pm to 8pm)
Where: Miramar Ranch Playground (10770 Red Cedar Drive)
Who: All MRE and Scripps Ranch Families and Friends
What is the theme this year? "We're Baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack"
What is a Game Booth? Each classroom is responsible for manning a booth at the carnival. Over the years, MRE has collected lots of carnival games ranging from TP Toss and Lollipop Pull to Hockey Shot and Spill the Milk. Your Room Parent has posted a Signup Genius sheet for you to sign-up for a time slot to volunteer at your classroom Game Booth. We hope that each parent signs up for at least one one-hour time slot. It is the responsibility of the Booth Coordinator of each classroom to encourage parents to participate (if no one signs up for the Booth Coordinator position, the responsibility falls back on the Room Parent). Remember, this is one of the biggest fundraisers at our school—it all happens with the help of all of our parents. Looking to do more? Contact volunteer coordinator Allie Taggart to be added to our Carnival-wide volunteer list.
What is the Teacher’s Pet Shoppe? The Teacher’s Pet Shoppe is a raffle held the day of the carnival where a student has a unique opportunity to win some special time with his or her favorite teacher. Teachers choose an event to be raffled off (cookies after school, special lunch together, etc.). It can be an individual or a group event. The Teacher’s Pet Shoppe is always fun, creates special memories for the students and at the same time, raises money for our school. Look for special Teacher's Pet Shoppe prizes as part of our raffle this year.
What is the Haunted Trail? The Haunted Trail is a 5th Grade fundraiser for their Promotion Fund. All the 5th graders are encouraged to participate in the planning and constructing of a Haunted Trail. The 5th graders then work the entire day of the carnival spooking the attendees of the Haunted Trail. All proceeds from the Haunted Trail go directly into the 5th grade fund. Don't miss the spooky evening of the Haunted Trail on Friday, October 21 from 5:30pm-8pm.
Community Service Volunteers: Our carnival uses as many as 100 community volunteers (not including MRE parents). It takes a village! Anyone who just loves to volunteer and help out in the community, we place them: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Welcome Wagon, Kiwanis! We need help! Volunteering at the Carnival is a fun and rewarding experience. Middle school and high school students that need community service hours, we will supply you the opportunity. We log all hours and provide verification for hours worked. Please contact Allie Taggart for more information or to sign up.
Other Carnival Special Events & Info: We will have an array of delicious food trucks, kettle corn, shave ice, and more! We will have a Bake Sale Booth that allows parents to bring in their goodies wrapped in single-servings to sell and eat. We will also have a Cake Decorating Contest with a student and adult winner. The winning cakes will be on display at the Bake Sale Booth on Carnival day. The rest of the cakes will go to the Cake of Fortune--a tradition at Miramar Ranch.
